Ashton Gate Primary School PTA launches ambitious fundraising campaign to create ‘Calm Spaces’ for Ashton Gate children
Ashton Gate Primary School PTA is thrilled to announce an initiative aimed at enhancing the well-being of Ashton Gate’s children through the creation of ‘Calm Spaces’.
This fundraising project sets out to install two spaces - one each at the Ashton and Upton sites - to provide a serene environment for children. Any child who is finding their school day challenging will be able to use these spaces to unwind throughout the day.
Laura Dowlman, Head of the school’s Ashton site, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, saying, "I am very excited about the Calm Spaces initiative and so grateful for the support of the PTA, and the many parents and families who contribute to its fundraising. This project will have a positive impact on our children’s wellbeing, helping them to thrive emotionally and in their achievements at school".
Recognising the increasing importance of mental health and well-being in education, the PTA has pledged to bring this project to life through its fundraising activities. The Calm Space will offer an accessible place for children who may find the demands of the day overwhelming, providing them with the opportunity to reset and refocus.
Key features of the Calm Space include relaxing music, soft lighting, calming colours, double-glazing and central heating. These will provide a comfortable sensory environment year-round.
The initiative aims to benefit children not only during regular school hours but also will be available for private hire outside school hours, further contributing to the community's wellbeing.
The Ashton Gate Primary School PTA will channel a significant portion of its fundraising efforts over the next year to make the Calm Space initiative a reality. We look forward to the support of parents, local businesses, and our community as we all contribute to this essential project.
