Why have a Parents Teacher Association (PTA)?
In a nutshell, the purpose of the PTA is to raise additional money for the school to help with things such as stocking up the libraries or improving the playground equipment. We hold regular events throughout the year such as the Christmas Tree Sale and Fair, Quiz nights and the Summer Fair to bring people together, have some fun and make money for a really good cause.
We meet every couple of months to discuss and agree how to fundraise and how to distribute the funds we raise fairly amongst the school, with smaller working groups meeting as and when necessary.
Our aim is to make the PTA both inclusive and accessible, where parents and carers, together with the staff, can become part of the committee or dip in and dip out as their time permits.
Taking part in PTA activities is a great way to make new friends as you take part in events, find out more about the school, and get to know parents other than those from your child’s/childrens’ class. It can actually be quite fun!!
Fancy helping out?
We are lucky to have some loyal foot soldiers, but would LOVE to welcome many, many more people to come to meetings and to volunteer. An hour of your time is often the only thing required.
Attending a PTA meeting is also a great way to find out more about your school and also:
- Get involved in the next events
- Offer your expertise (organisational/practical/PR/marketing/entrepreneurial skills or just plain and simple general-all-round-hands-on skills)!
- Hear what the funds raised from events contribute towards the school
- Get to vote when people make proposals for fund allocation
If you would like to know more about the PTA, please email email@example.com or pop a note in our tray in the School Office.
